Family Vacation, Part 4, Crater Lake

We finally made it back into Oregon and drove up an old volcano. This volcano was especially cool because there was a big lake that filled in the top of it, and that lake was a blue and anything I had ever seen before. Mom and Dad said wow a lot and I thought it was cool, but I had an even better time looking at the chipmunks running around. They're so cute.

Family Vacation, Part 3, Lava Beds National Monument

After a night in Reno sleeping in a bed and having a nice bath, we headed up into northeastern Cali and spent the afternoon at Lava Caves National Monument. This place was awesome. We went caving with our headlamps on and it was so cool. I think, I mean, I know that Mom was more nervous then I was, and geology boy Dad was psyched. We looked for bats and it was real dark in there but I wasn't scared, not even once. We also checked out some cool pictures that people put on this big rock mountain a long time ago...called petroglyphs and pictographs. I don't really know what that means, but I do know that they were cool. I call it old art.

Family Vacation, Part 2, Yosemite

It was a real bummer leaving Yosemite Valley, but we had places to see on our way back up to Oregon. We drove out of Yosemite on Tioga Road through Tuolumne Meadows and on the way stopped for lunch at beautiful Tenaya Lake. They had a great beach, and we played and chilled for a bit. Then after a quick stop at the Meadows...which I don't really remember...I think I was sleeping...we drove over Tioga Pass and down to the eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. Dad has always wanted to see Mono Lake, so we stopped, and then headed to some lovely hot springs just north of there for sunset. It was just what we all needed to relax before we got back in the car to do some more driving - ugh.

Family Vacation, Sept. 17-25, Part I, Yosemite Valley

After driving forever, we finally made it to Yosemite Valley. Now I see what all the hub-bub is about. This place is awesome. I've never seen so much rock in my life, and man, I love rock. Dad has been teaching me the right way to climb rocks since we've been here and I've been doing a great job. We stayed in a tent cabin in Curry Village and it was really fun. We saw a fox right by our tent and we also saw deer when we were riding our bikes around the valley floor, but no bears. Oh well, maybe next time. I got to party with my friend Mirella and her sister Kaya while my Mom and Dad got to hang with their friends too at the Awahnee Hotel. We had a great time. I can't wait to go back.

Depoe Bay, Oregon Coast, Labor Day weekend, 2006

We spent Labor Day weekend in Depoe Bay. It's on the central coast of Oregon and it's beautiful. My friend Aron was there, and we played a lot, spent time soaking in the hot tub, and had some solid jam sessions as the "Funky Naked Boys". We also spent time on the cliffs of Depoe Bay watching whales, and the waves crashing into the rocky walls. It's not very sunny down there, but I really like the coast of Oregon. The aquarium in Newport is pretty cool too, but Aron's Mom and Dad, and my Mom and Dad, liked the Rogue House of Spirits Brewery the best. They had good root beer...yummy...
